Dr. Lauren McLaughlin-Abrams

Board Certified Anesthesiologist and Chronic Pain Management Physician

Dr. McLaughlin-Abrams is originally from Vancouver, Canada and received her undergraduate degree from the University of British Columbia. She received her medical degree from Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Colorado. Upon graduation, she went on to complete her internship in Internal Medicine at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Denver. She completed both her Anesthesiology residency and Interventional Chronic Pain fellowship at the University of Colorado. She is board certified in both anesthesiology and pain management by the American Board of Anesthesiology.

She has a particular interest in cancer pain management and feels that it is very important that the focus of care is on the patient’s pain, fatigue, and distress. She enjoys working closely with the patient’s support team including family and oncology specialists. She believes that cancer treatment side-effects can be minimized by incorporating optimal pain medication management with minimally invasive procedures as well as physical and cognitive behavioral therapies.

In addition to specializing in cancer pain management, she has particular interest in incorporating osteopathic diagnoses and treatments. She enjoys treating a variety of pain symptoms including pelvic pain and post-mastectomy/chest wall pain symptoms. Other areas of expertise include sports related injuries, chronic injuries, neuropathy, and myofascial pain.
